A DAY IN THE LIFE OF AN AFTER-SCHOOL RECREATION INSTRUCTOR
As a teacher, you play a crucial role in keeping our school running by helping direct and teach the after-school programs. You typically supervise and manage primary care groups of 12 to 18 children. In accordance with our school's philosophy, you plan and implement the daily program for your class. You ensure your activities and daily lesson plans are age-appropriate and include principles that encourage growth and development in your students.
Because of your energetic manner, students love being in your class. You are able to keep them engaged and excited about learning by following our school's play-based approach in order to plan activities. Being a teacher and mentor to your students is why you love coming to work every day, and this makes you perfect for this teaching position in early childhood education!
QUALIFICATIONS FOR AN AFTER-SCHOOL RECREATION INSTRUCTOR
- High School Diploma is required. Bachelor's degree in early childhood education, special education, child development, or a related field OR a current Child Development Associate (CDA) certification (preferred but not required).
- Has completed the 10-hr Virginia Preservice Training OR is willing to complete it .
- 6+ months of experience working with young children in an accredited child care facility
- A love for children and the ability to relate well with them, their families, and teachers

This full-time teaching position works a typical schedule of 8-hour shifts/4-hour shifts, five days a week. Part-time must be able to work a 1:00 p.m. -6:00 p.m. schedule.
