About the Role
Ro Health is seeking Paraprofessional Health Aides to support in-school special education and general classroom needs across New York City. In this role, you will work closely with teachers, school nurses, and behavior specialists to help students with behavioral challenges, daily living activities, and physical care, ensuring they can fully participate in their educational environment.

Please note: Candidates begin on a per diem basis with opportunities to move into full-time schedules.
Key Responsibilities
- Classroom & Academic Support: Assist teachers and behavior specialists in executing Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) while fostering a positive, safe learning environment.
- Behavioral & Crisis Management: De-escalate and manage behavioral challenges, tantrums, or outbursts using approved techniques.
- Personal & Physical Care: Provide hands-on care including toileting, diapering, feeding, and mobility assistance (ambulation) around school grounds.
- Student Safety & Transportation: Escort students safely throughout the school campus, on/off transportation, and during school activities.
- Communication: Facilitate clear communication (including oral transliteration where applicable) between students, teachers, and staff.
- Other duties as assigned by school staff or district supervisors.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Education: High School Diploma or GED equivalent required.
- Certification: Active Home Health Aide (HHA) Certification.
- Background Checks: Ability to pass a current criminal background check and National Sex Offender Registry screening.
- Logistics: Reliable transportation and consistent communication methods.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in Special Education (SPED) or home health settings.
- Professional experience working with children, particularly those with behavioral challenges.
- Associate Degree in a related field.
- CPR Certification (Ro Health will assist you in acquiring CPR certification if needed).
