American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a CVICU position requiring a MD or Compact RN license and a minimum of 2 years of CVICU experience, working nights in a high-acuity cardiac surgery setting.

Hospital-based CVICU with 6 beds and an average daily census of 3–5 patients
-
Patient population includes post-op cardiac surgery (CABG, MVR, AVR), cardiac surgery re-admissions/ICU bounce-backs, structural heart procedures (TAVR, mitral clips), STEMI/NSTEMI, cardiogenic shock, and Inari procedures

Nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:2

Specialized procedures and equipment include inotropic medications, hemodynamic monitoring, open chest management, OHS/Impella, ECMO (with perfusionist on-site), CRRT (with dialysis on-site), IABP, and active cardiac output management
-
Night shift schedule: 3x12-hour shifts, 19:00–07:30

Every third weekend is required

Holiday coverage required as scheduled

Floating to the MSICU is required as needed

On-call required for 24–32 hours per rotating 8-week schedule

13-week contract

Active MD or Compact RN license currently in hand

Required certifications: BLS, CPI, and ACLS

Preferred certifications: NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS), OCN, and TCNN
-
Minimum 2 years of CVICU experience required

First-time travelers with CVICU experience will be considered

Responsibilities include management of post-op cardiac surgery patients during the critical first 6 hours, including hemodynamic instability, extreme coagulopathy, and active cardiac output management
