About Gillion Academy
The Gillion Academy is a nationally accredited, college-preparatory
academy for grades 7–12 that fuses rigorous academics, independent-
learner development, leadership training, and elite athletics. We
prepare student-athletes not just for college admission, but for
sustained success once they get there.
The Role
We’re looking for a Social Science Teacher who builds informed,
critical thinkers — someone who believes in mastery-based instruction
and wants real ownership over how it’s delivered, not a script to
follow .
You will:
Teach across World History , U.S. History , Government, Economics,
and AP Social Science courses as assigned
Deliver instruction through the Academy’s Independent Learner
model
Design discussion-based and inquiry-driven learning experiences
that build civic and historical literacy
Use Acellus, MAP Growth, and classroom data to personalize
instruction and drive interventions
Prepare students for AP exams, SAT , ACT , and college-level
coursework
Build genuine relationships with student-athletes and hold them to
high academic expectations alongside a demanding training
schedule
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in History , Social Science, Political Science,
Education, or a related field
Strong instructional design and classroom management skills
Experience in college-preparatory instruction preferred
Virginia teaching license preferred but not required
A genuine interest in working with student-athletes and
understanding the demands of their dual academic-athletic
schedule
