We are seeking an experienced, highly organized, bilingual, and personable Family Law Legal Assistant/Paralegal to join our team. The ideal candidate is proactive, detail-oriented, comfortable managing multiple priorities, and able to thrive in a fast-paced legal environment.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 1 year of experience working as a legal assistant or paralegal, preferably in family law.
- Must be fully bilingual in English and Spanish, with the ability to communicate professionally with clients in both languages.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills.
- Excellent attention to detail and ability to independently track multiple cases and deadlines.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Professional, friendly, and comfortable communicating with clients, opposing counsel, court personnel, and other professionals.
- Ability to work efficiently under pressure and manage competing priorities.
- Experience with legal billing and accurately recording billable time.
- Strong computer skills and ability to learn and work with case-management and calendaring systems.
Responsibilities
The Legal Assistant/Paralegal will assist with the day-to-day management of family law matters, including:
- Maintaining and monitoring the firm's case calendar, court deadlines, discovery deadlines, and other important dates.
- Scheduling and coordinating hearings, depositions, mediations, client meetings, and conferences.
- Preparing notices and coordinating with opposing counsel, judicial assistants, court reporters, mediators, and other professionals.
- Assisting with the preparation and organization of mandatory disclosures and discovery.
- Drafting correspondence, notices, routine pleadings, and responses related to mandatory disclosures and discovery for attorney review.
- Communicating with clients in English and Spanish regarding documents, deadlines, appointments, and case-related matters.
- Organizing and maintaining electronic case files and ensuring that files remain current and complete.
- Following up on outstanding documents, discovery, and other case requirements.
- Accurately tracking and billing time for work performed on client matters.
- Assisting attorneys with case preparation and other tasks as needed.

We are looking for a people person who understands that family law clients are often going through stressful and difficult situations and who can communicate with them professionally, patiently, and compassionately in both English and Spanish.
At the same time, the successful candidate must be able to stay on top of deadlines, anticipate what needs to be done next, follow through without constant supervision, and keep cases moving forward.
Compensation
Pay is commensurate with experience.
