Duties
- Assist orthodontists during various procedures including bracket placement, wire adjustments, and appliance fittings with precision and efficiency
- Prepare treatment rooms by sterilizing dental instruments, setting up necessary equipment such as 3D scanners and dental x-ray machines, and ensuring all tools are ready for use
- Take and develop dental radiographs (X-rays) while adhering to infection prevention management protocols and aseptic techniques
- Manage patient records using electronic medical records (EMR) systems like Eaglesoft or Dentrix, ensuring accuracy and confidentiality in compliance with HIPAA regulations
- Educate patients on orthodontic care instructions, oral hygiene practices, and post-treatment procedures to promote optimal outcomes
- Monitor vital signs and assist with medical imaging as needed to support comprehensive patient assessments
- Maintain clinical cleanliness by following strict infection control policies, sterilizing instruments, and managing dental sterilization procedures efficiently
- Support administrative tasks such as scheduling appointments, answering patient inquiries as a dental receptionist, and managing patient management software for seamless clinic flow
Qualifications
- Proven experience as a Dental Assistant with a focus on orthodontics or pediatric dentistry preferred; strong background in general dentistry is also valuable
- Proficiency with EMR systems including Eaglesoft, Dentrix, or similar platforms for accurate medical documentation and record keeping
- Knowledge of dental terminology, dental equipment operation, and clinical confidentiality policies essential for maintaining high standards of patient care
- Familiarity with dental sterilization procedures, infection prevention management, aseptic techniques, and infection control protocols required for safe practice
- Ability to perform dental x-ray procedures accurately while adhering to safety standards; experience with 3D scanners is a plus
- Strong understanding of anatomy knowledge related to oral surgery and endodontics enhances your ability to assist effectively
- Excellent communication skills to collaborate with team members including dental receptionists and healthcare professionals while delivering exceptional patient care
- Certification in X-ray technology or radiography is highly desirable; ongoing training in medical terminology and healthcare infection prevention is encouraged
