We are seeking a highly experienced Over-the-Road (OTR) Driver with a strong background in dispatching to join our dynamic transportation team. Duties
- Coordinate and dispatch freight loads for OTR drivers, ensuring timely pickups and deliveries across multiple regions
- Utilize transportation management systems such as Oracle Transportation Management and SyteLine to plan routes, track shipments, and optimize fleet utilization
- Manage GPS and GIS tools to monitor driver locations, navigate routes, and troubleshoot logistical issues in real-time
- Communicate effectively with drivers via multi-line phone systems, maintaining professional phone etiquette and providing clear instructions
- Oversee shipping & receiving processes, ensuring accurate data entry into AS400 and other logistics platforms
- Conduct analysis of transportation data to identify inefficiencies and implement process improvements in supply chain operations
- Maintain organized records of dispatch activities, freight details, and driver logs while managing phone calls related to freight inquiries or issues
Experience
- Proven experience as an OTR driver with a strong understanding of dispatching procedures in a logistics or transportation environment
- Familiarity with transportation planning tools such as GIS, GPS, Oracle Transportation Management, and SyteLine
- Demonstrated ability to manage transportation management systems (TMS), shipping & receiving platforms, and 3PL (third-party logistics) operations
- Strong analysis skills for route optimization, freight tracking, and supply chain efficiency improvements
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to handle multi-line phone systems professionally and courteously
- Organizational skills necessary for data entry, documentation accuracy, and managing multiple priorities simultaneously
- Knowledge of fleet management practices including shipping & receiving procedures, freight handling, and vehicle tracking systems like AS400 or equivalent
