Job Summary
We are seeking a compassionate and energetic Direct Support Professional (DSP) to provide exceptional care and support to individuals with diverse needs, including developmental disabilities, and other health conditions. Duties
- Assist residents with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility support using equipment like Hoyer lifts when necessary
- Monitor residents’ health by taking vital signs, observing for changes in condition, and reporting findings in accordance with HIPAA regulations
- Prepare nutritious meals and snacks tailored to individual dietary needs, ensuring proper food handling and sanitation practices
- Support residents with medication administration following care plans and safety protocols
- Engage residents in social activities and therapeutic programs to promote mental stimulation and emotional well-being
- Maintain a clean and safe environment by performing regular cleaning duties in resident rooms and common areas
- Document care activities accurately in resident records and update care plans as needed
- Respond promptly to emergency situations, including administering CPR or first aid when required
- Use effective patient observation techniques to identify potential health concerns or behavioral changes early
- Assist with transportation to medical appointments or community outings using appropriate safety measures
Qualifications
- Prior experience working in group homes, assisted living facilities, nursing homes, or home & community care settings preferred
- Knowledge of patient care techniques including assisting with ADLs, medication administration, and vital signs monitoring
- Certifications such as CPR, First Aid, HIPAA compliance training highly desirable
- Experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities, autism spectrum disorder, Alzheimer’s disease or dementia preferred
- Ability to lift heavy objects safely and perform physical tasks required for resident support and mobility assistance
- Strong communication skills with the ability to work collaboratively within a caregiving team
- Compassionate attitude with a genuine desire to improve residents’ quality of life
- Flexibility to work various shifts including evenings, weekends or overnight shifts as needed
