Duties
- Safely operate various types of vehicles including commercial trucks and automobiles, adhering strictly to DOT (Department of Transportation) regulations and safety practices.
- Plan and execute efficient delivery routes, ensuring timely arrival at each destination while managing multiple stops throughout the day.
- Load and unload merchandise with proper lifting techniques, including heavy lifting and safe lifting practices, to prevent injury and damage.
- Communicate clearly with clients upon delivery, building positive relationships through excellent customer service and client communication skills.
- Upsell additional products or services when appropriate, leveraging sales skills to enhance customer satisfaction and company revenue.
- Maintain accurate delivery logs, route documentation, and inventory records while organizing daily schedules for maximum productivity.
- Conduct routine vehicle inspections to ensure automobile transportation safety standards are met; report any issues promptly for maintenance or repairs.
Experience
- Proven experience in commercial driving or route driving within retail or delivery environments.
- Familiarity with pricing strategies, merchandising, and basic math for accurate transactions and route calculations.
- Strong communication skills for effective client interaction and team coordination.
- Knowledge of DOT regulations related to commercial truck driving and transportation safety practices.
- Experience in retail store environments or customer relationship building is highly desirable.
- Ability to perform heavy lifting safely while following organizational procedures.
- Demonstrated organizational skills to manage multiple deliveries efficiently in a fast-paced setting.
