American Traveler is hiring a travel RN for a Cardiac Step-Down / Progressive Care Unit (PCU) position requiring 2+ years of experience, telemetry skills, and an active NC or compact RN license.

Located on the 5th floor of the Owen Heart Center (Heart Tower) within a hospital setting
-
40-bed Cardiac Step-Down unit with a night shift staffing model of 1 charge nurse, 10 bedside nurses, and 3 PCTs
-
Patient ratio of 1:4, with stretch staffing up to 1:5
-
Patient population includes CHF, MI, chest pain, arrhythmias, pulmonary hypertension, valvular disease, endocarditis, DKA, post cardiac cath/stent, and post pacer/ICD/ablation

Procedures performed on the unit include bedside cardioversion

Equipment used includes Zoll monitors, Baxter pumps, lift equipment, and bladder scanners

EMR: Cerner
-
Night shift schedule: 6:45 PM – 7:15 AM
-
Every other weekend required
-
Floating required to MedSurg units, stepdown units, COVID unit, and ER holding

Active NC or compact RN license required
-
Current BLS and ACLS certifications required (AHA or ARC accepted; certifications must not expire within the first 30 days of the assignment start)

Minimum 2 years of recent RN experience in a cardiac stepdown or progressive care setting

Telemetry experience required
-
Experience with titratable or cardiac IV medications required (e.g., nitroglycerin, Cardizem, amiodarone, dopamine, dobutamine, insulin drip, heparin, Bumex/Lasix)

Experience with prostacyclins (Flolan, Veletri, Remodulin) preferred

Relief charge nurse experience preferred

US SSN and date of birth required for consideration

One professional reference required (two required if licensed in Florida or Missouri)

No gaps in work history of 90 days or more in the past 12 months

Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility to be eligible; local candidates will not be considered

Scrub color requirements: all white, all navy blue, or white top with navy blue pants

Unit policies and orientation details will be discussed during onboarding
