Position Overview
The Logistics & Business Support Coordinator is a full-time, hourly position based at our headquarters in Vista, CA. This is a dynamic, multifaceted role at the heart of our operations. You will own the logistics function — sourcing carriers, coordinating freight pickups and deliveries of our recycled plastic products, and obtaining competitive trucking quotes to support customer pricing. When logistics is running smoothly, you will roll up your sleeves and contribute meaningfully to sales support, customer communication, and general office administration. This role is ideal for someone with an entrepreneurial spirit who thrives in a fast-moving small business environment and is looking to make a real impact.
Key Responsibilities
Logistics & Freight (Primary)
- Source, vet, and negotiate with trucking companies and freight brokers to arrange pickups and deliveries of recycled plastic materials
- Obtain competitive freight quotes to support the sales team in building accurate customer proposals
- Coordinate load scheduling, pickup times, and delivery windows with carriers and customers
- Track shipments and proactively communicate status updates to relevant stakeholders
- Maintain carrier relationships and continuously build and manage a reliable carrier network
- Ensure all freight documentation (bills of lading, shipping orders, etc.) is accurate and filed appropriately
- Monitor freight costs and identify opportunities for cost savings
Sales & Customer Support
- Assist the sales team with preparing and following up on customer quotes
- Serve as a professional and responsive point of contact for customer inquiries
- Support account management activities including follow-up communications and order tracking
- Help prepare sales materials, proposals, and correspondence as needed
General Office & Administrative Support
- Perform data entry, maintain records, and keep internal databases up to date
- Assist with general administrative tasks to support business operations
- Contribute to marketing and business development efforts as directed
- Support special projects and initiatives that contribute to company growth
Qualifications
Required
- 3+ years of professional experience in logistics, freight coordination, sales support, or a related field
- Demonstrated ability to source and negotiate with trucking companies or freight brokers
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills — professional, clear, and confident
- Highly organized with strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook) and general computer literacy
- Self-starter who takes initiative and follows through without constant direction
Preferred
- Experience in the recycling, plastics, manufacturing, or wholesale distribution industry
- Familiarity with freight/logistics software or transportation management systems (TMS)
- Prior experience in a small business environment where wearing multiple hats is the norm
- Exposure to CRM tools or basic sales support processes
Pay: From $20.00 per hour
