Firm Overview
We are an established plaintiff's No-Fault litigation firm located in Brooklyn. The firm represents medical providers, pharmacies, and imaging facilities in actions to recover unpaid and improperly denied No-Fault benefits from insurance carriers.
Position Summary
The firm seeks a full-time litigation attorney with a minimum of three (3) years of New York No-Fault experience to manage a caseload of litigated matters against insurance carriers. The attorney will handle matters from inception through resolution, including motion practice, court appearances, and settlement negotiations, and will work directly with the firm's partners.
Responsibilities
- Manage a caseload of No-Fault litigation matters against insurance carriers from inception through resolution
- Develop and execute case strategy on issues arising under Insurance Law § 5106 and Regulation 68 (11 NYCRR Part 65)
- Draft and argue motions, including summary judgment motions, oppositions, replies, and discovery motions
- Appear at conferences, motion arguments, and trials in the New York City Civil Courts [and Supreme Court, as applicable], both virtually and in person
- Conduct settlement negotiations and appear at mediations
- Coordinate with partners, associates, and support staff
Required Qualifications
- Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school
- Admission to the New York State Bar; active and in good standing
- Minimum three (3) years of New York No-Fault litigation experience (plaintiff or defense)
- Demonstrated motion practice experience, including drafting and oral argument
- Familiarity with Regulation 68 and pertinent No-Fault caselaw
- Proficiency with legal research platforms (Westlaw or Lexis), PACER, and NYSCEF
- Strong analytical, writing, and oral advocacy skills
- Ability to work independently and manage deadlines across a high-volume docket
Preferred Qualifications
- First-chair trial experience or arbitration experience (AAA or Forthright)
- Personal injury or workers' compensation litigation experience
