The founder of the Kinetic Wind has over 10 years of wind experience in the field ranging from everyday operations to the ability to perform major component exchanges, and troubleshooting. In addition to our experience, we are specialized in assisting teams that are utilizing the Liftra Crane for gearbox replacement.
Job Description:
Major Component Specialist
· Two (2) years of overall experience with at least one (1) years in to operations and/or maintenance of power generation and related facilities, including experience with wind turbines.
· Turbine major component replacement experience required; experience across multiple manufacturers (i.e. Siemens and GE) strongly preferred.
· Previous crane and rigging experience required.
· Travel is required for majority of the time, with long and irregular work hours from time to time on various third-party wind sites throughout the US.
· Reports to, assists and supports the Supervisor of Major Component Specialist in managing and coordinating the operations of the Major Component activities performed for Kinetic Wind Operations, to assure safe and efficient operations, minimizing cost and optimizing performance.
· Performing up-tower major component replacements on multiple turbine manufactures.
· Travel is 95% of the time throughout the USA to service various wind farm facilities.
· Travel up to 4 weeks at a time with at least 10 days back home rotation.
· Self-motivator: Ability to work successfully, safely, and independently at remote wind farm locations.
Requirements/Qualifications:
- 2+ year experience as Wind Technician preferred. Experience performing major component swaps preferred.
- Experience working on GE wind turbines preferred.
- Must ability to read and comprehend electrical and mechanical schematics, technical manuals, procedures and regulations.
- Must have knowledge of electrical principles and concepts.
- Must be able to use hand and power tools.
- Ability to troubleshoot and diagnose electrical, mechanical, or hydraulic problems preferred.
- Electrical testing experience preferred.
- Must be able to travel for extended periods at a time, work long hours and be available on short notice.
- Must be able to work in adverse and extreme weather conditions and in confined spaces.
- Must have clean DMV record and ability to operate service trucks as required. No record of DUI (driving under the influence), DWI (driving while impaired), or refusal to test within previous 2 years; no more than 2 driving violations or citations of any kind on your motor vehicle record within the previous 3 years; no more than 1 accident (fault or no-fault) within previous 3 years.
- Must be Service-oriented and have good communication and organizational skills and be detail oriented.
- The candidate needs to have the ability to climb wind turbine towers up to 300 feet in height, up to 2 times a day and the ability and willingness to handle repetitive weight (50+ lbs)

- OSHA-10, NFPA 70E, First Aid/CPR, Climbing and Tower Rescue certificates.
- GWO Certified preferred. Candidate doesn't have GWO certificate then we send you to training.
