Summary/Objective
Lead the day-to-day operation of the True North AmeriCorps Program by recruiting, onboarding, supporting, training, and acting as a resource for AmeriCorps members and host sites and overseeing the marketing, and community outreach process for the program in conjunction with other YMCA departments.

Essential Functions
- Provides regular ongoing support, oversight, and engagement with AmeriCorps members through email, phone, web-based systems, and in-person communication.
- Documents and mediates issues with members and their supervisors; coaches and mentors service members; solves problems with all parties.
- Handles any incidents in a prompt, efficient, and professional manner in accordance with outlined policies and procedures.
- Coordinates the member recruitment process with the HR department including bringing ideas for innovative marketing and community outreach strategies and materials in alignment with YMCA branding standards.
- Works with HR manager to facilitate the member application process screening applicants for eligibility, connecting with and following up with host sites, tracking progress, and following up with members in a timely manner.
- Works with HR Manager to manage the member enrollment process including initiating and monitoring background checks, federal AmeriCorps enrollment, and personnel file management ensuring strict compliance to AmeriCorps regulations.
- Coordinates the member exit process (including termination) ensuring all AmeriCorps requirements are met and documented, communicating with members, supervisors, program director, and the Human Resources Department.
- Leads the planning and delivery of orientation and ongoing training for members and site supervisors. Assists in assessing the impact and advising continuous improvement.
- Assists and provides oversight to member data collection by reviewing multiple online databases and supporting members in meeting deadlines.
- Supports community-building and positive member experiences including organizing engagement and appreciation events like National AmeriCorps Week.
- Follows AmeriCorps compliance regulations in all aspects of the position.
- Organizes and administers strategic initiatives including Global Youth Service Day.
- Strengthens, maintains, and supports the development of partnerships with key program partners, organizations, businesses, schools, and community leaders.
- Participates as a leader or member of staff committees, leadership groups, and community groups supporting exchanges of ideas, event planning, and more.
- Directly supervises and provides day-to-day support to one or more AmeriCorps members and provides high level oversight to 30+ AmeriCorps members weekly.
- Works with the Central Services team on budget for recruitment, supplies, trainings, and special events.
- Manages Partner Site accurate recording of in-kind hours and other in accordance with AmeriCorps regulations.
- Represents and promotes the YMCA in the local community in a highly professional manner; develops positive working relationships with other organizations, businesses, and governmental entities.
- Provides support with grant submission for local and national funders along with special events.

Supervisory Responsibility
The True North AmeriCorps Program Coordinator supports the site hosts to ensure proper supervision of members and directly supervises the Recruitment Specialist position.
Work Environment
The True North AmeriCorps Program Coordinator will be required to work using a desk, chair, computer equipment, and other office supplies.
Physical Demands
The True North AmeriCorps Program Coordinator is occasionally required to sit; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
The position is generally worked Monday through Friday during the day. There may be times the True North AmeriCorps Program Coordinator will work in the evenings and weekends to assist with different programming.
Travel
Travel is necessary to visit all the True North AmeriCorps site locations. Travel may be needed multiple times per week.
Required Education and Experience
- Bachelor's degree or Associate’s degree in education, social work, psychology, human services, or related field — or equivalent relevant experience.
- At least one year of experience working or volunteering with youth in grades K-8th grade.
- Certifications: Basic CPR/AED and First Aid for adults, children, and infants (required). Training can be provided upon hire. Higher levels of certification are accepted.

- Experience supporting youth grades K-8 with their social competencies and interpersonal skills in a school or program setting
Additional Eligibility Qualifications
