The Michigan Medicine Neurology Department has dedicated specialized professionals that evaluate and treat multiple neurologic conditions including epilepsy, chronic headache/migraines, movement disorders, and Alzheimer?s. The team is seeking an Advanced Practice Provider to join the team of experts to evaluate, diagnose, treat, and monitor ongoing management of headache disorders; the APP will provide this, in addition to providing procedural interventions of Botox injections, peripheral nerve blocks and trigger point injections. The Neurology team is well established within the institution and is comprised of physicians and advanced practice providers that deliver high-quality and evidence-based care.
Duties will include but are not limited to:
Perform history and physical examinations
Diagnose, treat, and monitor patients with headache
Order imaging scans and laboratory testing
Administer Botox injections, peripheral nerve blocks and trigger point injections
Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team
Coordinate treatment delivery and communicate across care teams
Organizational Relationships and Practice Environment:
Advance Practice Professionals (APPs) will receive medical supervision from the Department of Neurology Service Chief.
Advance Practice Professionals (APPs) will receive administrative supervision from the APP Manager.
NP

Current licensure to practice as a Registered Nurse and Nurse Practitioner specialty certification in the State of Michigan.

Current specialty certification to practice as an Adult Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner, Family Nurse Practitioner, Acute Gerontologic Primary Care Nurse practitioners, or Adult Nurse Practitioner
-
Graduate of an accredited Nurse Practitioner program.

Certification as a Nurse Practitioner recognized by the National Council of State Boards of Nursing (NCSBN).

Current DEA registration required
- ACLS required (separate AHA approved BLS also required unless ACLS was completed through the UMHS Simulation Center).

One year or more of experience as an APP.
PA:
-
Current license to practice as a Physician Assistant in the State of Michigan.

Certification by the National Commission on Certification for Physician Assistants (NCCPA).

Satisfactory completion of a physician assistant program accredited by the Accreditation Review Commission on Education for the Physician Assistant (ARC-PA), or one of its predecessor agencies, CAHEA or CAAHEP.

State of Michigan Controlled Substance License required

Current DEA registration required

ACLS required (separate AHA approved BLS also required unless ACLS was completed through the UMHS Simulation Center).

One year or more of experience as an APP.

Ability to prioritize assignments and manage a busy work environment

This position is covered under the collective bargaining agreement between the U-M and the Michigan Nurses Association and the U-M Professional Nurse Council union, which contains and settles all matters with respect to wages, benefits, hours and other terms and conditions of employment.
