Perform comprehensive cleaning of classrooms, hallways, restrooms, offices, and common areas using commercial cleaning equipment and supplies

Duties
- Conduct routine floor care including sweeping, mopping, buffing, stripping, and waxing to maintain high standards of cleanliness and appearance
- Maintain cleanliness of windows, walls, ceilings, and other surfaces to uphold a tidy environment
- Handle daily custodial tasks such as trash removal (including recycling), restocking supplies, and disinfecting high-touch areas to promote health and safety, this includes daily sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, bathroom cleaning (floors, stalls, sinks, toilets, urinals, mirrors, soap-paper towel and toilet paper replenishment)
- Clean and sanitize trash containers as needed
- Clean ceiling fans in kitchen monthly
- Clean under and behind kitchen refrigerators, freezers, sink, and steam table monthly
- Empty and maintain outside trash receptacle as needed
- Assist with light maintenance duties including minor repairs, painting (residential or industrial), and facilities upkeep as needed
- Operate janitorial equipment safely and efficiently while adhering to safety protocols
- Support special cleaning projects or event setup/cleanup to ensure the school remains inviting for all activities
- Available to work school and parish events as scheduled throughout the year
- Stripping, waxing and buffing all tile floors during the Summer
- Cleaning all windows inside, outside, and ledges during the Summer (including blinds in all classrooms and the hall)
Job Description Accountability:
- Proven experience in cleaning or janitorial roles within commercial, residential, or industrial settings
- Strong knowledge of custodial procedures including floor care techniques like buffing and stripping floors
- Ability to operate cleaning machinery such as buffers, vacuums, and floor scrubbers effectively
- Familiarity with facilities maintenance tasks such as minor repairs or painting is a plus
- Excellent attention to detail with a proactive approach to maintaining cleanliness standards
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while following safety guidelines
- Physical stamina to perform repetitive tasks involving bending, lifting, climbing ladders, and standing for extended periods
- Respect Catholic values and aids students in Christian formation by exemplifying Catholic living both in and out of the classroom
- Supports and embraces the Catholic Identity, Mission, Service and Beliefs of the school
- Participates and meets the requirements of the "Virtus" program for Safe Environments for the protection of children
- Adherence to the Code of Ethical Standards defined by the Catholic Diocese of Wilmington, DE
- Completion of an acceptable background and screening reports and employment references
- Treats confidential information about students, staff, and school affairs in a professional and ethical manner
