Overview
The Thrift Store Manager is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the thrift store, ensuring excellent customer experience, maximizing sales revenue, managing staff and volunteers, and maintaining an organized, welcoming shopping environment. This role involves leadership, inventory management, merchandising, financial oversight, and community engagement to support the store's mission and operational goals.
Responsibilities
- Manage all day-to-day store activities, including opening and closing procedures.
- Monitor store performance and implement strategies to improve sales and customer satisfaction.
- Maintain compliance with company policies, safety standards, and applicable regulations.
Staff and Volunteer Management
- Recruit, train, schedule, and supervise employees and volunteers.
- Conduct performance evaluations and provide coaching and development opportunities.
- Resolve employee and customer concerns professionally and promptly.
Inventory and Merchandising
- Oversee the intake, sorting, pricing, and display of donated merchandise.
- Ensure inventory is attractively presented and rotated regularly.
- Monitor stock levels and identify opportunities to increase sales through effective merchandising.
- Coordinate the handling of unsold or excess inventory according to organizational guidelines.
Sales and Financial Management
- Develop and implement sales strategies to achieve financial targets and increase store profitability.
- Monitor sales performance and make data-driven decisions to improve results. This includes staff scheduling changes and store setup.
- Manage the store’s budget and prepare financial reports as required to report the Director of Operations and Executive Director.
Marketing and Community Engagement
- Plan and execute in-store promotions, sales, and events to attract and retain customers.
- Serve as an ambassador for the organization, building relationships with the community that visit the store and stakeholders.
Administrative Duties
- Maintain accurate records of sales, inventory, donations and other key metrics.
- Prepare and submit regular reports to senior management.
- Submit purchase orders to operations management for improvement to the store’s appeal
- Set schedule for all staff
