Job Overview
The Restaurant Supervisor is responsible for overseeing daily front-of-house operations and ensuring exceptional guest experiences through effective team supervision and service execution. This position assists restaurant leadership in upholding operational standards, supporting team development, managing service flow, and resolving guest concerns in a timely and professional manner. The Restaurant Supervisor acts as a key floor leader during service and plays an active role in maintaining a high level of staff engagement and guest satisfaction.
General Responsibilities
- Supervise and support the front-of-house team during service, ensuring smooth and efficient operations

Lead daily pre-shift meetings and communicate service goals, specials, and any key updates

Ensure team members are adhering to restaurant policies, grooming standards, and service protocols

Provide hands-on service support as needed to maintain guest satisfaction and service standards

Assist in onboarding and training new front-of-house employees

Monitor table and guest flow; ensure effective use of seating and reservation systems

Act as a liaison between FOH and BOH to ensure coordinated, timely service

Handle guest inquiries, feedback, and complaints professionally and effectively

Assist with side work, opening and closing duties, and quality control checks throughout the shift

Support inventory and supply needs by reporting shortages or assisting with restocking

Maintain cleanliness and organization of the restaurant and service areas

Perform other duties as assigned by restaurant management
Management Activities
- Directly supervises hourly front-of-house staff, ensuring smooth day-to-day operations and adherence to service standards

Assist in training, directing, and evaluating front-of-house staff

Monitors floor operations during service, addressing staffing needs, guest concerns, and operational issues in real time

Acts as manager-on-duty when required, with authority to delegate tasks, resolve guest complaints, and make time-sensitive decisions

Leads pre-shift meetings and supports the development of team communication and morale

Enforce company policies and procedures while supporting the maintenance of staff discipline, ensuring accountability and consistency in employee performance.

Assign and monitor side work and service stations

Provide on-the-floor coaching and performance feedback

Ensure compliance with food safety, health, and workplace regulations

Recommend process improvements and contribute to staff performance reviews
Discretion / Independent Judgment
Exercises independent judgment in guest service recovery, conflict resolution, and pacing of the dining room to maintain optimal service flow. Makes decisions on seating adjustments, staffing support, and timing of service based on guest volume and operational needs. Identifies service issues or breakdowns and initiates corrective action to uphold brand and service standards. Serves as a liaison between management and hourly staff, often making recommendations on scheduling, training opportunities, and service enhancements. Uses discretion when handling sensitive personnel issues and upholding workplace standards in the absence of senior management
Job Qualifications
Education:

High school diploma or equivalent required

Hospitality or restaurant management coursework preferred
Experience:
-
Minimum 3 years in a high-volume restaurant or hospitality environment

At least 1 year in a supervisory or lead server role preferred

Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills

Proficiency in POS and reservation systems

Customer-focused with the ability to multitask and work under pressure
Physical Requirements (ADA)

Ability to speak and hear clearly in a noisy environment

Vision requirements include close and distance vision, color recognition

Frequent walking, standing, and mobility for extended periods

Ability to lift up to 25 lbs. frequently and up to 50 lbs. occasionally
