Position Overview
Since 1910, Scouting has helped shape future leaders by combining educational activities, character development, and fun. Scouting America believes that helping youth succeed builds a more conscientious, responsible, and productive society.
Program Aides play an essential role in delivering the Scoutreach mission—bringing high‑quality Scouting experiences to youth in underserved or hard‑to‑reach communities. Program Aides work directly with Cub Scouts-aged youth, and families to deliver programming that strengthens life skills, character, and leadership.
This role offers meaningful work, independence, and the chance to make a direct impact on young people.
Responsibilities
This part‑time position may require up to 20 hours per week, primarily in the field, depending on the number of schools and community locations served.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
- Deliver engaging Scouting programming for youth ages 5–10 using provided lesson plans and the Scouting curriculum.
- Serve as a positive ambassador of Scouting America, upholding the Scout Oath and Scout Law in all interactions.
- Work with the Scoutreach Director to develop and implement the Scoutreach curriculum for the Fall and Spring
- Support youth in completing rank‑based adventures, life skills activities, STEM projects, and character‑building challenges.
- Increase program quality by promoting youth retention, advancement, participation, and service.
- Build relationships with local volunteers, families, school staff, and community partners.
- Assist in recruiting and supporting volunteers who help run meetings and activities.
- Help strengthen and grow Scoutreach programming within assigned communities.
- Maintain accurate attendance and advancement records.
- Serve as a community‑focused representative of Scouting America in diverse environments.
Qualifications
- Must be 21 years of age or older.
- Must register as an adult leader with Scouting America (application required).
- Must complete Safeguarding Youth Training and successfully pass a criminal background check.
- Valid driver’s license.
- Access to reliable transportation to travel to program sites.

Compensation
This is a part‑time hourly position.
Starting pay: $15-$17 per hour, based on experience and council guidelines.
Hours vary depending on the number of assigned program sites.
