Job Title: Outside Parts Sales Representative

Job Summary
The Outside Parts Sales Representative is responsible for selling trailer and truck parts and accessories to both existing and prospective customers within an assigned territory. This role requires regular customer visits, understanding customer needs, recommending products, and ensuring overall satisfaction. The position also focuses heavily on developing new business relationships while maintaining strong ties with long-term clients.
Compensation:
- Starting base salary: $50,000/year
- Monthly commission opportunities — total compensation potential: $95,000+/year
Preferred Background:
- 1–5 years of truck/trailer and/or heavy-duty equipment parts experience, or repair-industry knowledge
- High school diploma or GED required; Associate degree or technical school training preferred
- Must pass drug screen
- Clean background (5+ years) and clean driving record strongly preferred
Key Responsibilities & Business Development
- Proactively identify, pursue, and engage new customers within the assigned territory
- Develop strong, long-term relationships with existing clients to drive repeat business
- Assess customer needs and recommend the correct trailer or truck parts and accessories
- Provide product demonstrations and clearly communicate product benefits
Customer Service
- Respond quickly and professionally to customer inquiries
- Process and manage customer orders with accuracy
- Resolve product or delivery issues in a timely, customer-focused manner
Territory Management
- Plan and conduct routine visits with customers across the assigned territory
- Track sales activities, customer interactions, and opportunities using CRM tools
- Stay informed on market conditions, competitor activity, and industry trends
Product Knowledge
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of trailer parts, accessories, and new product releases
- Participate in required training, meetings, and trade events
Sales Reporting
- Submit regular sales reports including market feedback and performance metrics
- Collaborate with the Sales Manager to refine sales strategies and achieve goals
Qualifications
- Proven outside sales experience, ideally within automotive, truck, trailer, or heavy-duty parts
- Strong understanding of trailer parts and accessories, or willingness to learn quickly
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
- Self-motivated, organized, and able to work independently
- Strong problem-solving ability with attention to detail
- Proficiency with CRM systems and general computer applications
- Valid driver’s license with willingness to travel the territory
Physical Requirements
- Must be able to lift and handle heavy parts or equipment as needed
- Comfortable working outdoors and in varying weather conditions
Work Environment
This role includes a mix of office responsibilities and extensive fieldwork, with frequent travel to customer locations. Candidates should be familiar with the competitive landscape within the truck and trailer parts industry.
