The Position
Yancey Trucking is hiring a dependable regional driver to operate a 26-foot box truck. This position includes regional freight routes, weekday travel, overnight hotel stays when scheduled, customer pickups and deliveries, and hands-on freight handling.
Important: Every selected driver must complete Yancey Trucking training, demonstrate safe operation, and receive written clearance before driving alone.
Primary Responsibilities
· Operate a 26-foot box truck safely on assigned regional routes.
· ELD compliance: maintain accurate duty status and complete all required logs every day.
· Pre-trip and post-trip inspections: complete and submit DVIRs and report defects immediately.
· Defensive driving: maintain safe following distance, scan continuously, manage speed and plan ahead.
· Navigation: use truck-appropriate GPS guidance while continuously monitoring the road and mirrors.
· Pickup and delivery: communicate professionally, verify freight and follow site instructions.
· Docking and backing: line up carefully, use GOAL—Get Out And Look—and request a spotter when needed.
· Freight handling: safely use a liftgate and pallet jack when required.
· Paperwork: obtain required pickup and delivery signatures, sign driver sections, photograph documents and send them to management every time.
· Fuel and receipts: follow approved fueling instructions, use the designated fuel program and submit a clear receipt photo after every purchase.
· Communication: provide timely updates regarding arrival, departure, delays, fuel, freight issues, vehicle concerns and emergencies.
· Vehicle care: keep the cab and cargo area clean, secure and ready for service.
Required Qualifications
· At least 25 years old.
· Valid driver's license and an acceptable motor vehicle record.
· At least one year of verifiable 26-foot box truck or comparable commercial driving experience preferred.
· Comfortable driving regional routes and staying in company-arranged hotels during the workweek.

· Able to use an ELD application, GPS, smartphone camera and required communication tools.
· Able to complete all required hiring, safety and screening processes.
· Reliable, punctual and able to follow written and verbal instructions.
Training and Clearance
Before solo assignment, the driver must read and understand the Yancey Trucking Driver Standards 2026 handbook, complete required knowledge checks, demonstrate ELD and DVIR procedures, pass a behind-the-wheel evaluation, and receive signed management approval. Training time alone does not authorize solo driving.

· No falsification of ELD records, DVIRs, receipts, paperwork or delivery information.
