Summary
We are seeking a skilled Medical Coder to join our team in providing exceptional home health care services. This role is crucial in ensuring accurate medical coding and billing processes, contributing directly to our mission of delivering quality patient care.
Responsibilities
- Review and analyze medical documentation for accurate coding
- Accounts for coding each SOC,ROC, RECERT
- Assign appropriate codes for diagnoses and procedures using ICD-9, ICD-10, and CPT coding systems
- Analyzes medical records and identifies documentation deficiencies needed for coding.
- Serves as a subject matter expert on coding issues for other staff.
- Collaborate with healthcare providers to clarify documentation as needed
- Assigns codes for reimbursements, research and compliance with regulatory requirements utilizing guidelines
- Provides training to staff as needed.
- Recognizes the need for and facilitates the implementation of plans of action to correct coding errors.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of coding practices and regulations
- Utilize EMR and EHR systems for accurate record-keeping
- Assist in training staff on coding best practices.
- Access to Patient Ping, Medicare eligibility, and PECOS reporting
- Qualifications
- Proven experience in medical coding, specifically with DRG, CPT, ICD-9, and ICD-10
- Strong understanding of medical terminology and billing processes
- Familiarity with EMR and EHR systems
- Excellent attention to detail and analytical skills
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team
- Strong communication skills for effective collaboration with healthcare professionals
- Microsoft office skills
- Certification in medical coding (e.g., HCS-D) is preferred..
