Help Keep Schools Safe
Interquest Detection Canines is seeking a dependable, self-motivated individual who loves dogs and is looking for a unique and rewarding career.
As a K9 Detection Handler – School Safety Specialist, you will work alongside one of our highly trained and certified detection canines conducting inspections in schools throughout Alabama and portions of southern Tennessee. Our professionally trained dogs detect illegal drugs, commonly abused prescription medications, firearms, alcohol, fentanyl, vape devices, and vape juice.
This is much more than walking a dog. You and your canine partner will become a professional inspection team dedicated to helping schools maintain a safe learning environment while providing exceptional customer service to school administrators.
No prior canine handling experience is required. Paid training is provided to the right individual.
Current Schedule & Compensation
This position currently averages approximately 7 full workdays and 3 half workday per month during the school year.
Although the current workload is less than full-time, Interquest offers a guaranteed compensation package of $3,000 per month because we are seeking a high-quality, long-term employee who will grow with our company.
Your compensation includes:
- Guaranteed salary of $2,500 per month
- $500 monthly vehicle/per diem allowance for using your personal vehicle while traveling to inspection sites
As our Alabama operation continues to grow, both your scheduled workdays and compensation will increase. Since your starting compensation is already above the current workload, future pay increases will generally occur once the inspection schedule expands to approximately 14 or more full inspection days per month.
During June and July, schools are out of session. Employees are temporarily laid off during the summer and are typically eligible to receive unemployment benefits before returning to work when schools resume in August.
Travel
The primary service territory is the entire State of Alabama, with occasional inspections in southern Tennessee counties near the Alabama state line. Applicants should be comfortable traveling throughout the assigned territory as needed.
You will use your own reliable vehicle for business travel and will receive a $500 monthly vehicle/per diem allowance to help offset travel expenses.
