Job Summary
Join our dynamic multi-location pediatric dental group as a Pediatric Dental Assistant, where your enthusiasm and expertise will help create a positive, comfortable experience for young patients and their families. In this vital role, you will support dentists by providing exceptional chairside assistance, ensuring infection control, and maintaining accurate medical records across multiple clinics. This paid position offers opportunities for growth, skill development, and making a meaningful difference in children’s oral health.Must be able to work Two Saturdays 8 am - 2:30 pm and weekdays till 5:30 pm.
Duties
- Assist pediatric dentists during examinations and procedures using four-handed dentistry techniques to enhance efficiency and patient comfort
- Prepare treatment rooms with necessary instruments, materials, and supplies, ensuring all equipment is sterilized following aseptic techniques and infection control protocols
- Take and develop dental X-rays, using your NJ X Ray license, including 3D scans when applicable, while adhering to HIPAA regulations for patient privacy and safety
- Record accurate medical documentation, including vital signs, medical history, and dental notes in EMR systems
- Educate children and parents on oral hygiene practices using clear dental terminology to promote good habits
- Maintain a clean and organized clinical environment following infection control standards and anatomy knowledge to support safe dental procedures
Qualifications
- Prior experience working in a dental clinic setting with pediatric patients is highly preferred
- Nj X Ray license is preferred
- Proficiency with EMR systems
- Knowledge of HIPAA regulations, infection control practices, and aseptic techniques to ensure patient safety and confidentiality
- Ability to perform dental assisting duties including chairside assisting, taking X-rays, vital signs measurement, and medical imaging
- Strong understanding of dental terminology related to pediatrics dentistry, and medical terminology for accurate documentation
- Excellent communication skills to educate children effectively while maintaining professionalism as a dental receptionist
- Knowledge of anatomy relevant to dentistry and experience with medical coding for dental procedures is advantageous
