Job Title: Skilled Construction Operator
We are seeking an experienced and safety-focused Skilled Construction Operator to join our construction team. The ideal candidate will have experience operating heavy equipment on commercial, civil, or utility construction projects while maintaining productivity, quality, and a safe work environment. This position requires the ability to work in varying weather conditions and collaborate effectively with crew members to complete projects on schedule.
Responsibilities
- Operate heavy equipment, including excavators, bulldozers, skid steers, loaders, backhoes, rollers, and other construction machinery.
- Perform excavation, grading, trenching, backfilling, and material handling.
- Assist with underground utility installation and site preparation.
- Conduct daily equipment inspections and report maintenance or repair needs.
- Read and interpret grade stakes, construction plans, and project specifications.
- Work safely around existing utilities, structures, and other equipment.
- Coordinate with supervisors and crew members to complete projects efficiently.
- Maintain equipment cleanliness and perform routine preventive maintenance.
- Follow all company safety policies and OSHA regulations.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 2 years of experience operating heavy construction equipment preferred.
- Experience with underground utility, site development, road construction, or heavy civil projects is a plus.
- Strong understanding of construction safety practices.
- Ability to read construction plans and follow project specifications.
- Valid driver's license required; CDL preferred.
- Ability to work overtime and travel to job sites as needed.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform physical tasks when not operating equipment.
