Summary
The Rental Fleet Manager oversees the daily operations of the Service Motor Company equipment rental program, ensuring seamless performance and exceptional customer satisfaction. This role is responsible for all aspects of the rental department, including store operations, customer experience, outreach initiatives, equipment inventory management, employee training, and rental process optimization. The Rental Fleet Manager plays a vital role in administering rental procedures and fostering positive relationships with customers by delivering outstanding service and support.
Required Education and/or Experience
Associate’s degree or 2-year Technical Degree in a related field
3-5 years of related experience in rental, inventory management, customer service, or sales.
Preferred Education and/or Experience
Bachelor’s degree in a related field
5-7 years of related experience in rental, inventory management, customer service, or sales.
Supervisory Responsibility
This position has no direct reports.

Oversees all facets of the Rental Department across all store locations, ensuring consistent program performance.
Planning and Strategy

Develops annual objectives focused on customer service, inventory optimization, expense management, and revenue targets.

Prepares and manages the annual rental program budget and business plan.

Monitors key performance metrics to identify opportunities for growth and process improvements.

Program Management

Designs, refines, and implements rental processes, ensuring clarity and consistency across all locations.

Trains rental staff on updated processes, policies, and systems.

Administers the rental process, including equipment scheduling, maintenance, contract execution, and payment collection.
Customer Service and Outreach
- Ensures timely and accurate customer billing in collaboration with rental staff and office teams.
- Responds promptly to internal and external customer inquiries, resolving issues to ensure satisfaction.
- Generates new rental leads through networking, cold calling, and referrals, directing opportunities to local store teams.
- Partners with Marketing to develop targeted advertising and outreach programs to grow the rental program.
Equipment and Inventory Management

Evaluates equipment utilization and recommends adjustments to inventory levels and product offerings.

Schedules, coordinates, and completes equipment check-in and check-out processes.

Maintains rental equipment displays to enhance property appeal and drive customer interest.

Conducts quarterly inventory audits and ensures accurate tracking of all rental equipment.

Oversees store-related vehicles, including usage, mileage tracking, fuel cards, and maintenance.
Vendor and Manufacturer Relationships

Maintains strong working relationships with manufacturers and vendors to support the rental program.

Evaluates and recommends new equipment from various manufacturers to meet customer needs.
Compliance and Safety

Prepares and delivers employee training programs on rental processes and product knowledge.

Attends instructional seminars, annual business meetings, and industry events to stay informed and promote rental program growth.
Performance and Results

Consistently meets or exceeds established rental program goals and objectives.

Communicates with Sales and Service Departments to ensure alignment on rental offerings and equipment maintenance.

Assists with overflow customer calls and walk-ins to support store operations.
