Job Summary
We are seeking a dynamic and safety-conscious Forklift Operator to join our fast-paced warehouse team. In this vital role, you will be responsible for efficiently operating various types of heavy equipment, including forklifts, cranes, clamp trucks, and pallet jacks, to load, unload, and move materials within the warehouse. Your expertise will ensure smooth warehouse distribution processes, accurate order picking, and safe handling of goods. Duties
- Operate forklifts, clamp trucks, cranes, and other heavy equipment safely and efficiently to load and unload shipments.
- Use RF scanners and warehouse management systems to accurately pick orders and update inventory records.
- Handle materials with precision using pallet jacks and other mechanical tools for heavy lifting and movement.
- Assist with shipping and receiving activities by verifying shipments against documentation and ensuring proper storage.
- Conduct regular inspections of equipment to ensure mechanical integrity and compliance with OSHA safety standards.
- Support warehouse distribution by organizing products for storage or dispatch according to warehouse protocols.
- Collaborate with warehouse supervisors to coordinate order picking tasks, ensuring timely fulfillment of customer orders.
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment, adhering to safety procedures at all times.
- Participate in ongoing training related to heavy equipment operation, safety regulations, and warehouse procedures.
- Assist in construction or materials handling projects as needed, demonstrating versatility in heavy equipment operation.
Qualifications
- Proven experience operating forklifts, pallet jacks, clamp trucks, cranes, or other heavy machinery within a warehouse or construction setting.
- Strong knowledge of warehouse distribution processes, order picking techniques, and shipping & receiving procedures.
- Mechanical aptitude with the ability to perform basic maintenance checks on equipment.
- Familiarity with OSHA safety standards related to heavy equipment operation and materials handling.
- Experience using RF scanners and warehouse management systems for inventory control.
- Warehouse experience preferred; previous supervisor experience is a plus for leadership opportunities.
- Ability to lift heavy loads safely and perform physically demanding tasks regularly.
- Mechanical knowledge relevant to heavy equipment maintenance is advantageous.
