Responsibilities
- Assist residents with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility support using equipment like Hoyer lifts when necessary
- Monitor residents’ health by taking vital signs, observing changes in condition, and reporting findings to healthcare professionals
- Support medication administration following proper protocols and HIPAA regulations to ensure privacy and safety
- Prepare nutritious meals tailored to individual dietary needs, ensuring proper food handling and cleanliness standards are maintained
- Maintain detailed care plans for each resident, documenting progress, preferences, and any incidents or concerns
- Engage residents in social activities and community outings to promote mental stimulation and social interaction
- Follow safety procedures during manual handling, heavy lifting, and other physical tasks to prevent injury for both staff and residents
Requirements
- Prior experience working in group homes, assisted living facilities, nursing homes, or home health environments is highly preferred
- Knowledge of patient observation techniques, dementia care (including Alzheimer’s), memory care, autism support, and neurodevelopmental disorders is advantageous
- Ability to perform cleaning duties to maintain a safe and hygienic environment for residents
- Familiarity with HIPAA regulations and confidentiality standards related to patient care
- Certification in CPR and First Aid is required; additional certifications such as medication administration or manual handling are a plus
- Strong communication skills with a compassionate approach to working with individuals with disabilities or developmental disabilities
- Physical ability to perform heavy lifting, assist with transfers using Hoyer lifts, and support residents during mobility activities
- A valid driver’s license may be required for community outings or transportation responsibilities
