2nd Shift | Monday–Thursday | 3:45 PM – 2:15 AM
We are seeking a motivated SMT Operator I to set up, operate, and maintain Surface Mount Technology (SMT) equipment used in the assembly of printed circuit boards (PCBs). This role includes operating screen printers, pick‑and‑place machines, and reflow ovens to ensure accurate component placement and high‑quality soldering. The ideal candidate is detail‑oriented, safety‑focused, and eager to grow their skills in electronics manufacturing while working a 2nd shift schedule from 3:45 PM to 2:15 AM, Monday through Thursday.

Responsibilities
- Set up, operate, and monitor SMT equipment, including screen printers, pick‑and‑place machines, stencils, feeders, and reflow ovens, following process sheets and manufacturing specifications.
- Load feeders, verify correct part numbers, select proper programs and reflow profiles, and ensure accurate component placement for each build.
- Inspect assembled PCBs per IPC‑A‑610 standards, perform soldering and board cleaning as required, and identify defects or rework needs.
- Read and interpret schematics, drawings, and work instructions to support accurate assembly and troubleshooting using hand tools, measurement equipment, and testing devices.
- Maintain equipment through routine preventative maintenance, operate stencil cleaning machines, and report any equipment or quality issues promptly.
- Adhere to all ESD, board handling, and Moisture Sensitive Device (MSD) requirements, as well as ISO, safety, quality, and 6S standards.
- Document production activities accurately and collaborate with engineering and quality teams to improve processes and product quality.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Ability to operate and utilize electronic manufacturing systems and SMT equipment.
- Working knowledge of SMT processes, machine operation, and basic machine maintenance.
- Ability to pass IPC‑D‑VE‑64C Component Identification certification and IPC‑A‑610 Modules 1, 2, 4, 7, and 8.
- Familiarity with IPC‑A‑610 standards for electronic assemblies.
- Proficiency in soldering techniques and the use of hand tools, power tools, calipers, and ohmmeters.
- Ability to read and interpret schematics, electrical wiring diagrams, technical drawings, and assembly instructions.
- Strong attention to detail with good problem‑solving skills and manual dexterity.
- Requires good eyesight, hand and finger dexterity, and the ability to perform repetitive tasks.
- Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Office and manufacturing systems.
- Knowledge of programmable logic controllers (PLCs), electrical systems, and mechanical assembly is a plus.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast‑paced environment, meet deadlines, and collaborate as part of a team with strong communication skills.
Education & Experience
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- 6–12 months of electronics manufacturing experience preferred.
- Previous experience with PCB assembly or Surface Mount Technology (SMT) preferred.
- Electrical experience or background in electronics manufacturing is highly desirable.
- Basic understanding of machining processes and mechanical principles related to electronics manufacturing.
Pay: $20.00 - $24.00 per hour
