Job Overview
The pharmacist's primary role is reviewing Prior Authorization cases and rendering coverage determinations based on clinical criteria and plan design in a fast paced and dynamic environment.
Primary Responsibilities
- Process member prescriptions or prior authorizations through various computer systems, ensuring data accuracy and updating as necessary, while consulting physicians/providers with questions and rendering coverage determinations
- Gather complex clinical information and coverage policy details to make coverage determinations within regulatory guidelines, consulting with pharmacy technicians and physicians on medication use and formulary alternatives as needed
- Organize workload, prioritize tasks, and complete assignments timely while complying with department standards, quality assurance guidelines, and state/federal pharmacy laws
Requirements
- Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D.) degree from an accredited institution
- Active Pharmacist License in the state you reside in
