Operations Engineer
Middlesex, NJ (On-Site)
Position Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Mechanical Engineer – Operations to bridge the gap between engineering and manufacturing operations. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys both technical problem-solving and hands-on coordination across projects, vendors, and production teams.
You will play a critical role in ensuring materials are sourced efficiently, projects stay on schedule, and operations run smoothly from concept through production.
Key Responsibilities
Operations & Project Coordination
- Support production scheduling and coordinate shop activities with engineering and production teams
- Track project progress and manage workflows using project management tools (e.g., Asana)
- Collaborate cross-functionally to ensure alignment across engineering, operations, and leadership
Procurement & Vendor Management
- Source materials, components, and services with a focus on cost-efficiency and quality
- Research market trends, pricing, and alternative sourcing solutions
- Build and maintain strong vendor relationships; negotiate pricing and terms
- Coordinate purchasing activities to ensure timely delivery of materials
Analysis & Continuous Improvement
- Analyze costs, processes, and workflows to identify efficiency improvements
- Support initiatives that drive cost savings and operational excellence
- Maintain technical knowledge of materials and equipment used in production
Administrative & Technical Support
- Maintain accurate records, contracts, and procurement documentation
- Utilize Microsoft Excel and Word for reporting, tracking, and analysis
- Communicate effectively with internal teams, vendors, and customers
Qualifications
Required
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field
- 1–5+ years of relevant experience in operations, manufacturing, or engineering
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook)
Preferred
- Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field
- Experience in the capital equipment or manufacturing industry
- Familiarity with ERP systems
- Experience with project management tools (e.g., Asana)
- Exposure to procurement or supply chain functions

Important Requirements

- This is a full-time, on-site position (Monday–Friday)

Pay: $65,000.00 - $100,000.00 per year
