Electrical Project Manager – Data Center Projects (Wisconsin)
Position Summary:
We are seeking an experienced Electrical Project Manager to oversee the successful execution of large-scale, mission-critical data center construction projects throughout Wisconsin. The Electrical Project Manager is responsible for managing all aspects of assigned electrical projects, including planning, budgeting, scheduling, procurement, contract administration, risk management, and client relations. This role partners closely with Electrical Superintendents, Foremen, owners, general contractors, engineers, and commissioning teams to ensure projects are delivered safely, on schedule, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.
Key Responsibilities:
Project Management:
- Manage the full lifecycle of electrical construction projects from preconstruction through project closeout.
- Develop and maintain project budgets, schedules, forecasts, and execution plans.
- Monitor project performance, identify risks, and implement corrective actions to maintain project objectives.
- Ensure compliance with contract requirements, project specifications, and owner expectations.
- Lead project kickoff meetings and establish project execution strategies.
Financial Management:
- Prepare and manage project budgets, cost reports, and monthly financial forecasts.
- Track labor productivity, equipment costs, material expenditures, and subcontractor performance.
- Review and approve purchase orders, subcontract agreements, invoices, and pay applications.
- Manage change orders, requests for information (RFIs), and contract modifications.
- Identify opportunities to improve profitability while maintaining quality and schedule commitments.
Schedule & Procurement:
- Develop and maintain detailed project schedules in coordination with field leadership and project stakeholders.
- Coordinate procurement of long-lead equipment and critical electrical materials, including:
- Switchgear
- Transformers
- UPS systems
- Standby generators
- Bus duct
- Cable tray
- Distribution equipment
- Monitor supplier performance and proactively address potential delivery issues.
- Support project recovery planning when schedule impacts occur.
Field Leadership & Coordination:
- Provide leadership and support to Electrical Superintendents, Foremen, and field personnel.
- Conduct regular project site visits to monitor safety, quality, schedule, and productivity.
- Collaborate with field leadership to resolve technical, manpower, and construction challenges.
- Ensure project documentation is accurate and current, including daily reports, meeting minutes, and progress updates.
- Promote teamwork and communication across all project stakeholders.
Client Relations:
- Serve as the primary point of contact for owners, general contractors, architects, engineers, and consultants regarding project execution.
- Lead project meetings and provide regular updates on schedule, budget, safety, and project milestones.
- Build and maintain strong client relationships through responsive communication and professional service.
- Resolve project issues promptly while maintaining positive working relationships.
Safety & Quality:
- Champion a culture of safety and ensure compliance with OSHA regulations, company safety policies, and project-specific safety requirements.
- Support field leadership in conducting safety meetings, audits, and corrective actions.
- Ensure all electrical work complies with the National Electrical Code (NEC), project specifications, and quality standards.
- Participate in quality inspections, commissioning planning, and project turnover activities.
Project Closeout:
- Manage project punch list completion, commissioning support, and final documentation.
- Ensure timely completion of as-built drawings, operation and maintenance manuals, warranties, and closeout documentation.
- Conduct project reviews to identify lessons learned and opportunities for continuous improvement.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Electrical Engineering, Engineering Technology, or a related field; equivalent electrical construction experience will also be considered.
- Minimum 7–10 years of commercial or industrial electrical construction experience.
- Minimum 3–5 years of project management experience managing large electrical construction projects.
- Demonstrated experience managing projects with electrical scopes valued at $10 million or more; experience with mission-critical or data center projects is strongly preferred.
- Strong understanding of electrical systems, construction methods, scheduling, procurement, and project controls.
- Working knowledge of the National Electrical Code (NEC) and applicable safety regulations.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, Microsoft Project or Primavera P6, Bluebeam, Procore, Autodesk Construction Cloud, and other construction management software.
- Valid driver's license and willingness to travel throughout Wisconsin as project needs require.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience delivering hyperscale or enterprise data center construction projects.
- Project Management Professional (PMP) certification.
- OSHA 30 certification.
- LEED Accredited Professional (LEED AP) or similar sustainability credential.
- Experience with Lean Construction principles or Last Planner System.
- Experience managing commissioning activities and mission-critical facility turnovers.

Physical Requirements:
- Ability to travel regularly to project sites throughout Wisconsin.
- Ability to walk active construction sites for extended periods.
- Ability to climb stairs, ladders, and access elevated work areas when necessary.
- Occasionally lift up to 25 pounds.
- Ability to work in both office and construction site environments while wearing required personal protective equipment (PPE).
