Marine Furniture Painter
The Furniture Painter role will be working alongside the Paint Shop Lead assisting in the preparation, painting, and final finishing of custom marine products of the highest quality.
Key responsibilities include:
- Cleaning and maintaining all paint equipment and paint rooms.
- Sanding, prep, masking and painting wood products.
- Finishing products by staining, painting, or sealing.
- Final wet sand, buff and prepare for final assembly.
Essential Functions:
- The setup and preparation of various paint sprayers and buffing tools.
- Maintenance of paint shop equipment; cleaning and maintaining optimal functionality.
- Apply mask tape over non-paintable surfaces.
- Mixing bench, (how to weigh and use formulas).
- Manage and review paint supplies and expiration dates.
- Blocking, wet sanding buffing procedures.
- Buff, Color Sand, Primer and Epoxies.
- Repair and refinish previous painted products.
- Continually inspect in progress work and finished products for quality control.
- Coordinate with supervisor on air compressor maintenance.
- Coordinate maintenance on spray booths.
- Communicate with Direct Supervisor and provide daily status on production.
- Coordinating Workflow based on the direction of Supervisor (FIFO order).
- Collaborate with other team members including skilled painters, woodworkers, project managers, and designers to achieve project goals.
- Keep work area and paint shop clean, organized, and secure.
- Adhere to company operating procedures, build on and create improvements to increase efficiency.
- Hazmat training.
- Safety knowledge of chemicals and equipment practices.
- Performs other related duties as requested by supervisor.
Requirements:
- Ability to lift heavy items and be exposed to outside heat or cold temperatures during some tasks.
- Follow plant safety protocols to ensure a safe working environment for all team members.
- Basic understanding of blueprints and shop drawings/specifications and varying dimensions using caliper or rule.
- Excellent communications skills; ability to work individually and in a team.
- Strong work ethics with attention to detail, organizational skills, and strong desire to learn.
- Understand and retain various item and part numbers.
Experience:
- At least one year of automobile or marine painting/finishing experience.
- Basecoat, clearcoat experience.
- Marine epoxies experience a plus.
- Hi-gloss finishing or related field a plus.
- High school diploma, GED, or relevant experience.
