Responsibilities
- Deliver comprehensive personal care assistance, including bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility support for residents and patients.
- Administer medications accurately according to physician orders while adhering to all safety protocols and documentation standards.
- Monitor vital signs such as blood pressure, pulse, temperature, and respiration; report any abnormalities promptly.
- Maintain detailed medical records using Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems, ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations and confidentiality standards.
- Support residents with specialized needs such as Alzheimer’s care, dementia care, or memory care by implementing tailored approaches that promote safety and comfort.
- Assist with medical procedures including tube feeding, catheter care, and basic life support (BLS) when necessary.
- Follow state healthcare regulations and facility policies related to patient safety, medication administration, and documentation practices.
Qualifications
- Prior experience in assisted living facilities, nursing homes, hospitals, or home care environments is highly preferred.
- Knowledge of medical terminology, physiology, anatomy, and basic nursing practices.
- Certification in CPR and First Aid; additional certifications such as EMR (Emergency Medical Responder) or BLS are advantageous.
- Familiarity with Electronic Medical Records (EMR) systems like Epic or Cerner; experience with Electronic Health Records (EHR) systems is a plus.
- Ability to perform manual handling tasks including heavy lifting safely while maintaining resident dignity and comfort.
- Strong communication skills for effective caregiver-resident interaction and teamwork within healthcare settings.
- Working knowledge of HIPAA regulations and maintaining strict patient confidentiality at all times.
- Experience working with geriatric patients or individuals with developmental disabilities is desirable.
