Primary Function
Chester County Futures (CCF) is a free post-secondary success program for students interested in pursuing their goals after high school graduation. As an organization, we will focus on addressing the most critical needs of our community, promoting diversity and inclusion for all. CCF Staff promote a safe exchange of ideas, beliefs and perspectives with all staff, students, and members of the community.
Work with impact as a CCF Student Services Coordinator (SSC) and the primary point of contact and weekly meeting leader for students enrolled in the CCF high school "Passport" Program in grades 9-12. Passport provides students with academic tools, life skills, and access to resources that allow them to best define the trajectory of their future after they graduate from high school.
The Student Services Coordinator is responsible for leading weekly after school meetings, coordinating classroom presenters, delivering CCF curriculum, and attending experiential learning during field trips to host sites around Chester County. By supporting and fulfilling Futures’ programmatic goals, the SSC serves as the liaison for CCF, community resources, and the school districts served. Current School Districts:
Kennett, Oxford, Coatesville, Octorara and Phoenixville.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities
- Organizes and facilitates the Passport after school programs curriculum utilizing guest presenters and/or preparing and delivering provided lessons aligned with program objectives.
- Coordinates all aspects of assigned program(s) including material preparation, meeting schedule, use of rooms approval from designated school personnel, student communication, and delivering content.
- Cultivates positive student relationships and learning.
- Communicates with guidance counselors/building staff person to obtain pertinent student information such as report cards and class schedules to provide academic support as/if needed. Provides direction to students accessing academic resources.
- Maintains contact with, and provides updates to, assigned student mentors.
- Assists with coordination of volunteer service opportunities for students.
- Participates in college, career-related, and corporate visits.
- Models’ professionalism.
- Instills a desire for academic excellence and the importance of post-secondary/workforce readiness.
- Enters and maintains student demographics and program outcomes data to support analytics.
- Partners with the Futures’ Development Department on special events, the College and Career Expo and other events, as requested.
- Assists with evening and weekend program recruitment events periodically.
- Performs other duties as assigned by the Director of Community Engagement.
Education and Experience Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree, or currently in college with 24 credit hours. Have or are pursuing a Human Services or Education degree.
- Previous experience working with youth, ideally including the development and delivery of life skills or academic programs.
- Experience in counseling and/or working in, or with, underserved communities desired.
- Must be able to work in a dynamic, collaborative, professional office environment as well as autonomously from a satellite school space as assigned.
- Strong desire to be an advocate for, and work with, underserved students.
- Strong organizational and leadership skills with an attention to detail.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills with an aptitude for active listening.
- Strong sense of integrity and proven ability to use good judgment.
- Fluency in Spanish desired.
- Proficiency in all MS Office programs with an ability to learn an Efforts to Outcome (ETO) database and web based educational tools.
Physical and Sensory Requirements
- Ability to move freely throughout a school building and office environment.
- Ability to sit, stand and/or walk for extended periods of time.
- Ability to sit on a bus for up to two hours.
- May be required to lift and carry maximum of 30 pounds.
