We are seeking a creative and motivated Systems Engineer (R&D S&E, Systems Engineering) to join the Telemetry Systems development programs.
The Telemetry Systems team plays an essential role in nuclear weapon surveillance and works closely with weapon systems team to meet both NNSA and military customer needs. You will be a member of one or two Telemetry Product Realization Teams and play a vital role in requirements definition and management for the Telemetry system and subcomponents as well as developing strategy and acceptance criteria for verification and validation of requirements.
Your assignments will also include using variety of system engineering technical judgements and skills to participate in trade space evaluation, anomaly resolution and root cause analysis, change control, risk and opportunity management, and product lifecycle evaluations.
On any given day, you may be called on to:

Collaborate with Telemetry customers and stakeholders to create and manage telemetry and telemetry subcomponent requirements including understanding rationale and traceability for all requirements.

Work with the various subsystem teams to verify complex requirements, often from a combination of analysis, simulated environmental testing, and flight testing.

Map Telemetry System and subsystem requirements to the validation and verification activities and product design.

Use knowledge of the Telemetry System, Subsystems, and next-level assembly to assess how requirement and/or design changes affect cost, schedule, and performance for the lifecycle of the product.

Participate as a lead member on change control boards.

Evaluate, test, and analyze Telemetry functionality and subsystem contribution to higher level system function. Document and distribute both test planning and results.

Use systems engineering principles and Sandia realize product procedures to guide Telemetry engineers and project managers through key project milestones; understands how a graded-approach in procedures affects cost, schedule, and performance of the telemetry system. May use statistical knowledge to understand production feasibility, capabilities, or processes to be applied to the solution space.
The position requires an ability to travel up to 25% to support the mission.
Due to the nature of the work, the selected applicant must be able to work onsite 100% of the time at the Livermore, CA facility.
