Austin Canine Central is a well-established dog services business serving the greater Austin area. We provide quality dog daycare, grooming, training, and retail. We are located in north central Austin and invite you to join our team.
The Dog Daycare Assistant is responsible for enrichment/socialization activities at our drop-off daytime program as well as interacting with clients and potential clients on a daily basis. Position starts at 6:45am so if you are not a morning person, do not apply please.
Responsibilities and Duties:
- Follows safe practices and procedures when introducing dogs
- Follows policies and procedures designated for daycare. Facilitates appropriate play and enrichment activities for adult dogs and puppies
- Provides interactive play with playgroups
- Follows check-in and check-out policies for cash, credit card, and prepaid package payments
- Works with dogs on behavioral development exercises to strengthen positive behavior
- Conducts potential customer walk-throughs consultations
- Cleans kennels, water bowls, and towels in the end-of-day process; performs spot-hit cleaning as required during the day
- Provides positive written and verbal feedback to customers about their dogs’ play day
- Documents incidents if required
- Positively interacts with customers in person, via email and phone
- Performs light daycare grooming duties (bathing, nail trims, etc.)
Qualifications:
- Minimum 1-year experience in a dog daycare or boarding setting
- Ability to read and promote positive canine play
- Knowledge in command reinforcement and behavioral exercises
- Excellent communication skills
- Must have a love for dogs and a keen sense for animal safety
- Must be observant
Physical Requirements:
Position requires the person to be both indoors and outdoors. Majority of day is spent standing, walking and bending.
- Must be able to lift 30+ pounds
- Stand and walk for long periods of time
- Work with small and large dogs
- Work around pet hair and dander
- Communicate with proper spelling and grammar via email/text
- Communicate with clients in a friendly, upbeat manner
