Job Summary:
The Structural Steel Overhead Crane / Forklift Operator is responsible for the safe and efficient handling and moving of structural steel materials. This position involves operating overhead cranes, forklifts, and other material handling equipment to load, unload, and transport steel products within the facility. The ideal candidate will have experience with steel materials and demonstrate a commitment to safety and precision in handling large, heavy loads.
Key Responsibilities:
- Operate overhead cranes and forklifts to move, load, and unload structural steel materials.
- Inspect materials to ensure they are free from defects and properly prepared for processing or shipping.
- Organize and store materials in designated areas to maintain efficient workflow and easy access.
- Coordinate with production, shipping, and receiving teams to ensure timely and accurate movement of materials.
- Perform daily equipment inspections and report any issues or malfunctions to maintenance.
- Follow all safety protocols and wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times.
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment, ensuring that all tools and equipment are stored properly after use.
- Support other team members as needed in various tasks related to material handling and crane operation.
Qualifications:
- Experience operating overhead cranes and forklifts in a manufacturing or warehouse environment, preferably with structural steel materials.
- Knowledge of proper material handling techniques and safety standards.
- Ability to read and understand work orders, blueprints, and material specifications.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety.
- Good communication and teamwork skills.
Physical Demands:
- Regularly required to stand, walk, and use hands to handle or feel materials.
- Frequently required to lift or move items weighing up to 50 pounds.
- Exposure to loud noises, heavy machinery, and potentially hazardous materials in a manufacturing environment.
Work Environment:
- The position operates in a manufacturing or warehouse setting with exposure to outdoor weather conditions.
- May involve exposure to dust, dirt, and noise from machinery.

Pay: $21.00 - $30.00 per hour
