Job Overview
We are seeking a skilled Diesel Generator Mechanic to join our dedicated maintenance team. In this role, you will be responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining diesel-powered generators and related equipment to ensure reliable power supply across various operational sites. Duties
- Perform comprehensive inspections and diagnostics on diesel generators and associated mechanical and electrical systems.
- Conduct repairs and maintenance on engines, electrical components, and mechanical parts using hand tools, power tools, welding equipment, and soldering techniques.
- Troubleshoot electrical issues utilizing schematics and electrical diagnostics to identify faults efficiently.
- Replace or repair engine components such as belts, filters, pistons, and wiring harnesses to ensure optimal performance.
- Maintain detailed service records, including work performed, parts used, and diagnostic findings.
- Assist in the installation of new generator systems and upgrade existing equipment for improved efficiency.
- Conduct small engine maintenance tasks on auxiliary equipment and perform heavy lifting as required during equipment handling.
- Collaborate with team members to ensure safety protocols are followed during all operations.
- Provide exceptional customer service by communicating technical information clearly and professionally.
- Support ongoing training to stay current with technological advancements in diesel engine repair and electrical diagnostics.
Qualifications
- Proven experience working as a Diesel Generator Mechanic or Service Technician within a industrial setting.
- Strong mechanical knowledge of diesel engines, power generation systems, and electrical systems.
- Proficiency in reading schematics, technical manuals, and electrical diagrams.
- Hands-on experience with equipment troubleshooting, electrical diagnostics, welding, soldering, and the use of hand tools.
- Familiarity with Cummins or similar heavy machinery brands is preferred.
- Ability to perform heavy lifting safely and handle manual tasks efficiently.
- Knowledge of small engine maintenance and general automotive repair is advantageous.
- Excellent problem-solving skills combined with strong attention to detail.
- Effective communication skills for interacting with clients and team members professionally.
