The Tech 2 is responsible for material handling including moving, cleaning and storing materials, as well as assisting with delivering, installing, and manning traffic control activities (lane closures, construction barricade set-ups, special event logistics, etc.). Successful candidates will ensure that plans are followed correctly; work is completed accurately and on-time while following appropriate safety protocols; and that the customer is satisfied with the overall work product.
Essential functions
- Assess work truck for safety and maintenance; review checklist daily
- Find and navigate quickest route to project site
- Understand customer needs and provide expertise on job set-up
- Contact contractor before arrival; follow up afterwards
- Knowledge of traffic control lane closure and work zone requirements
- Measure job prior to set-up; mark job after set-up
- Build signs on-site when required; correctly place signage/barricades
- Conduct typical lane closure (Taper/Buffer)
- Identify variables and adjust plans onsite if necessary
- Oversee and provide direction to Tech 1 partner
- “Drive” job to ensure correct set up
- Complete, sign and submit appropriate paperwork correctly and completely
- Conduct “Hot Shot” deliveries/pick-ups as necessary
- Service and correct existing job set ups
- Follow all safety policies, procedures, and protocols
- Actively look for and provide leads daily
- Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications
- High School diploma or equivalent
- 1+ years of traffic control technician experience
- Have and maintain a valid driver's license and excellent driving
- Ability to lift a minimum of 50 pounds repetitively
- Ability to work in an outdoor environment
- Ability to walk long distances consistently
- Ability to work flexible shifts

Work Environment
This job operates in an outdoor non-climate controlled and/or warehouse environment. Members of the Yard Crew routinely use standard tools, machinery, specific industry materials as well as frequently drive or ride in a flatbed work truck.

- This position frequently performs manual labor in a non-climate controlled outdoor and/or warehouse environment which may be extremely warm or cold dependent on external environmental conditions.
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time non-exempt position. Days and hours of work are typically Monday through Friday, 6:30 a.m. to 5 p.m., and 7 a.m. to 12 on Saturday; shifts may vary depending on workload.
Travel
Very frequent local travel in a company vehicle will be required for this position. Some occasional out of town/overnight travel may be required.
