ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONAL COMPETENCIES:

Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide service/care appropriate to the age of the patients served, in accordance with Hawarden Regional Healthcare standards. Maintains a working knowledge of applicable Federal, State and local laws and regulations, the Compliance Accountability Program, Code of Ethics, and HRH policies and procedures, including all provisions of the Health Insurance Portability Act of 1996 (HIPAA). In order to ensure adherence in a manner that reflects honest, ethical and professional behavior by implementing the organizational vision, values, and mission.

Washes windows, and walls. Cleans all horizontal and vertical surfaces. Vacuums all carpeted areas. Removes trash from patient rooms.

Analyzes floor conditions, determines proper cleaning method to ensure proper appearance. Dry mops and wet mops. Spot cleans floors, as needed. Uses wet floor signs when appropriate.
4.
Coordinates with maintenance on all environmental services activity with the unit or department involved to minimize problems and ensure safety.

Performs special isolation cleaning according to established procedures as required. Removes soiled linen from beds, washes beds, remakes beds with clean linen on patient transfers and dismissals.
6.
Has a basic knowledge of the cleaning products and the proper use in the housekeeping department.
7.
Checks all first impression areas as necessary to maintain the areas in a clean and tidy condition throughout day.
8.
Replaces supplies where needed, maintains cleanliness of all equipment and storage areas pertaining to housekeeping.
9.
Reports the need for repair of equipment, furniture, building and fixtures to appropriate person.
10.
Assists in the cleaning of emergency spills, floods, etc. as required.
11.
Recognizes and communicates issues/occurrences utilizing established lines of authority, and assists in identifying ways to resolve variances or unacceptable outcomes.
12.
Performs standardized tasks in the hospital laundry. Such tasks may include one or a combo of the following: separate torn, stained, or otherwise imperfect articles. Wash & dry laundry, mangle, fold and record laundry weights, according to department, in the laundry logbook, and deliver linens to proper locations.
13.
Has the proper knowledge of isolation linen procedures, and also knowledge of the cleaning agents and their proper use in the laundry.
14.
Demonstrates general working knowledge of computers and department specific software (i.e. Healthstream, internet, etc.)
15.
Actively participates in departmental meetings, committees, conferences, and in services. Is knowledgeable of and complies with Safety and Infection Control Policies & Procedures. Participates in Continuous Quality Improvement activities as requested. Keeps up to date on new procedures and research. Maintains confidentiality of information pertaining to clients, physicians, employees and HRH business.
Completes all mandatory training such as Healthstream, The Patient Experience, Safe Choices, Crucial Conversations and any other training as designated by Administration.

Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
