General Store Assistant Manager
The General Store Assistant Manager supports the Department Manager in overseeing daily operations of department. They help manage staff, ensure strong sales performance, maintain inventory, and deliver excellent customer service. They also step in to lead the department when the manager is absent. At least one weekend day is required and additional days during events.
Team Leadership & Support
- Assist in supervising and coaching sales associates
- Help train new employees on products and procedures
- May develop and manage schedules
- Provide direction during shifts and ensure tasks are completed
- Act as manager-on-duty when needed
- May be keyholder
Customer Service
- 2/20 Rule : Approach and greet all customers within 20 seconds or 20 feet of their arrival in your department.
- Ensure a high level of customer satisfaction
- Assist customers with product selection and technical questions
- Handle escalated customer issues or complaints
- Support team members on the sales floor during busy periods
Sales & Performance Support
- Help monitor sales goals and department performance
- Encourage upselling and product knowledge among staff
- Assist with implementing promotions and sales strategies
- Track key metrics and report to the manager
Merchandising & Department Presentation
- Ensure shelves and displays are clean, organized, and fully stocked
- Help set up promotional displays and signage
- Maintain pricing accuracy and product labeling
- Adjust product placement based on demand
Operations & Compliance
- Manage daily adjustments with employee scheduling and shift coverage
- Help with opening/closing procedures
- Ensure compliance with company policies and safety standards
- Assist with opening/closing procedures
- Manage pricing accuracy and signage compliance
Qualification and Experience
- Leadership and teamwork skills
- Strong communication and problem-solving ability
- Basic knowledge of department goods
- Organizational and multitasking skills
- Previous retail experience (often required)
Pay: $20.00 - $24.00 per hour
