Embark on an impactful opportunity to support K-12 students with significant needs as a contract school psychologist. This rewarding, in-person role spans the full academic year, beginning mid-August and running through late May, and is based near Kansas City, KS. Flexibility and collaboration are key, as you may work across several campuses within the district.
Your expertise will serve students with intense disabilities—including those who are non-verbal, physically impaired, or who communicate through assistive technology. As a valued resource within the school community, you’ll conduct comprehensive testing and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to create meaningful support plans.
Desired qualifications and experience:
- Valid School Psychologist certification/license (Kansas or eligible for Kansas reciprocity)
- Experience working with students who have moderate to severe physical, intellectual, and/or communication-related disabilities
- Familiarity with administering psychoeducational assessments and interpreting results for diverse learners
- Ability to develop effective testing environments for students using assistive technology
- Strong organizational skills and adaptability when traveling between campuses
- Excellent communication and report-writing abilities
- Commitment to cultural competency and individualized, student-centered planning
Key responsibilities include:
- Conducting psychological assessments in-person with students across K-12 grades
- Collaborating closely with special education teams, teachers, and families to translate data into actionable recommendations
- Creating and maintaining precise documentation regarding assessments and interventions
- Participating in meetings and contributing to IEP and eligibility decisions
- Traveling as needed between school sites
