Workforce Development Policy Coordinator (Bilingual English/Spanish)
Location: Santa Fe, New Mexico (Hybrid; remote work from Chaves, Eddy, or Lea County may be possible)
Schedule: Full-Time, 32-hour work week
Salary: $65,000 annually, depending on experience and qualifications

Somos Un Pueblo Unido is a statewide racial and economic justice organization dedicated to organizing immigrant families and low-wage workers across New Mexico. Through community organizing, leadership development, grassroots policy advocacy, civic engagement, and workforce equity initiatives, we work to expand economic opportunity and build long-term community power.
Position Summary
The Workforce Development Policy Coordinator advances Somos' workforce equity agenda by supporting policy development, legislative advocacy, research, implementation, and coalition-building efforts that expand access to adult education, workforce training, and economic mobility for immigrant, low-wage, rural, and oil and gas workers throughout New Mexico.
This position serves as a bridge between policy, organizing, and government implementation, ensuring workforce development investments and programs are accessible to the communities Somos serves.
Essential Responsibilities
Policy Development & Advocacy
- Support development and advancement of state and local workforce policies.
- Track legislation, budget proposals, and administrative rules related to workforce development and economic opportunity.
- Draft policy briefs, fact sheets, testimony, and advocacy materials.
- Support legislative advocacy efforts and coalition coordination.
Organizing & Coalition Building
- Work closely with organizing staff to integrate workforce policy into community campaigns.
- Support leadership development and member engagement in policy advocacy.
- Facilitate trainings and educational workshops.
- Represent Somos in statewide and local coalitions and policy tables.
Program Implementation & Accountability
- Monitor implementation of workforce development investments and programs.
- Build relationships with government agencies, colleges, workforce providers, and community partners.
- Collect community feedback to inform policy recommendations and improvements.
Research & Analysis
- Support community-based research projects.
- Analyze workforce participation and program data.
- Translate research findings into policy recommendations and organizing tools.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
- 2+ years of experience in public policy, workforce development, adult education, economic development, advocacy, or related fields.
- Strong commitment to immigrant rights, economic justice, and equity.
- Experience with policy research, analysis, or advocacy.
- Excellent writing and communication skills.
- Bilingual in English and Spanish.
- Ability to travel throughout New Mexico.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with workforce development systems, adult education, or job training programs.
- Experience working with state agencies or legislative processes.
- Experience conducting community-based research.
- Knowledge of New Mexico's workforce and economic development landscape.
