Job Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Medical Billing and Coding Specialist to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will possess comprehensive knowledge of medical coding standards, billing procedures, and insurance claim processing. As a vital member of our revenue cycle management team, you will ensure accurate coding, timely billing, and efficient claims submission to optimize reimbursement and maintain compliance with healthcare regulations. Duties
- Accurately assign diagnosis codes using ICD-9, ICD-10, and CPT coding systems in accordance with medical coding guidelines.
- Review and interpret medical records to ensure proper documentation for billing purposes.
- Prepare and submit electronic health record (EHR) and electronic medical record (EMR) system-based claims for insurance third-party billing.
- Manage the entire revenue cycle process, including medical collection efforts, claim follow-up, and payment posting.
- Verify insurance coverage, process health insurance claims, and resolve claim denials efficiently.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of health insurance policies, DRG (Diagnosis-Related Group) classifications, and coding updates.
- Collaborate with healthcare providers to ensure accurate documentation for inpatient services coding.
- Utilize billing software effectively to streamline billing operations and improve workflow accuracy.
- Ensure compliance with all applicable regulations related to medical records management and billing procedures.
Skills
- Proficiency in ICD-9, ICD-10, CPT coding, and DRG classifications for accurate medical coding.
- Strong understanding of medical terminology and medical records management.
- Experience with EMR/EHR systems for billing and coding purposes.
- Knowledge of health insurance claim processing, third-party billing, and revenue cycle management practices.
- Familiarity with medical collection processes and insurance reimbursement procedures.
- Ability to interpret medical documentation accurately according to coding guidelines for inpatient and outpatient services.
- Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail in handling complex billing data.
- Effective communication skills for collaborating with healthcare providers, insurance companies, and patients.
