Position Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented Construction Controller to lead our financial operations. You will oversee the accounting team, manage job-costing systems, and ensure accurate financial reporting. The ideal candidate has deep expertise in construction accounting, Work in Progress (WIP) reporting, and project-based financial risk management.Key Responsibilities
- Financial Management: Direct all accounting operations including billing, AP/AR, payroll, GL, and revenue recognition.
- Job Costing & WIP: Maintain the Work in Progress (WIP) schedule, track change orders, and analyze project profitability against budgets.
- Cash Flow Optimization: Monitor cash flow, manage retainage, and prepare monthly construction draw packages for lenders.
- Compliance & Risk: Oversee lien waivers, certified payroll, tax filings, and insurance/bonding requirements.
- Reporting & Strategy: Prepare monthly financial statements, analyze variances, and deliver forecasts to senior leadership.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Experience: Minimum 10+ years of accounting management experience, with at least 3 years specifically in the construction industry.
- Software Skills: High proficiency in construction ERP software (e.g., QuickBooks, Procore, or Foundation) and advanced Excel skills.
- Knowledge: Expert understanding of the Percentage-of-Completion accounting method and project-based job costing.
