KBS Academy is seeking a dependable and compassionate Substitute Teacher to provide classroom coverage on an as-needed basis throughout the 2026–2027 school year. This is a per diem position with hours based on school staffing and coverage needs.

Responsibilities
- Provide classroom coverage when regular teaching staff are absent or additional coverage is needed
- Follow established lesson plans, classroom routines, IEP accommodations, and student-specific supports
- Maintain a safe, structured, engaging, and compassionate classroom environment
- Collaborate with BCBAs, behavior staff, teachers, and other team members to support students' academic and behavioral goals
- Implement established behavioral supports and compassion-based ABA strategies
- Support students with transitions, emotional regulation, classroom participation, and academic activities
- Maintain consistency with established classroom expectations and routines
- Assist with academic and behavioral data collection when applicable
- Adapt to different classrooms, grade levels, and individual student needs
- Promote student dignity, autonomy, emotional safety, and student voice
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree required
- Valid Pennsylvania teaching certification, PA Private School certification, or appropriate qualifications to serve as a substitute teacher preferred
- Special Education background or experience strongly preferred
- Experience working with students with autism, emotional support needs, and/or behavioral challenges preferred
- Emotional Support/Emotional Disturbance classroom experience is a plus
- Familiarity with trauma-informed care and compassionate ABA practices is preferred, but training can be provided
- Strong classroom management, communication, and collaboration skills
- Ability to adapt quickly and confidently to different classrooms and student needs
- Dependable, patient, flexible, and comfortable working as part of a multidisciplinary team
