Position Summary:
The Radiology Access Specialist acts as first line of insurance for patient safety to minimize exposure and risk. The position serves a critical role in insuring patient orders for imaging exams and procedures are in compliance with regulatory requirements including appropriate use documentation/criteria and prior authorization. This position provides complex scheduling services for all Diagnostic Imaging exams and procedures while demonstrating exceptional customer services and critical thinking skills.
We are seeking a detail-oriented and patient-focused Radiology Access Specialist to join our team. In this role, you will serve as the first point of contact for patients and providers, ensuring a smooth and efficient scheduling process for radiology services. The ideal candidate combines strong customer service skills with medical office experience and a commitment to delivering an exceptional patient experience.
Key Responsibilities:
- Schedule radiology appointments accurately and efficiently
- Verify patient demographics, insurance, and authorization requirements
- Provide clear instructions and preparation details to patients
- Answer incoming calls and respond to patient and provider inquiries
- Coordinate with clinical staff to ensure proper exam scheduling
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records in the system
- Ensure compliance with HIPAA and organizational policies
- Deliver excellent customer service in all interactions
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 1 year of medical office experience required
- At least 2 years of customer service experience required
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment
- Experience with electronic medical records (EMR) systems preferred
- Knowledge of medical terminology is a plus
