Telehandler Operator (First Shift)Position Summary
We are seeking a dependable and safety-minded Telehandler Operator to join our team on first shift. This position is responsible for operating a telehandler to safely move structural steel materials throughout our facility, load outbound shipments, unload incoming deliveries, and maintain an organized storage yard. The ideal candidate is adaptable, works well in a fast-paced environment, and takes pride in keeping materials organized and production running efficiently.
Schedule: First Shift 7 am-3:30pm
Overtime: Available as needed
Essential Responsibilities
- Operate a telehandler to safely move structural steel materials throughout the yard and production areas.
- Load outbound shipments onto flatbed and hotshot trailers while ensuring loads are secure, balanced, and organized.
- Unload incoming deliveries and verify materials are received accurately.
- Pull materials required for daily production according to work orders and schedules.
- Maintain an organized, clean, and efficient storage yard.
- Build and stage outbound loads for shipment.
- Assist with inventory organization and material identification.
- Communicate effectively with production, shipping, and receiving personnel to ensure priorities are met.
- Follow all company safety policies and procedures.
- Complete assigned tasks independently while also working effectively as part of a team.
- Adapt quickly to changing production schedules and shifting priorities.
QualificationsRequired
- Experience operating a telehandler or similar heavy equipment.
- Ability to safely handle large, heavy structural steel material.
- Strong attention to safety and detail.
- Good communication and organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision as well as collaboratively with a team.
- Reliable attendance and a strong work ethic.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
Preferred
- Experience handling structural steel materials, wide flange beams, large square tubing, angle, and plate.
- Experience loading and building shipments on flatbed and hotshot trailers.
- Shipping and receiving experience in a manufacturing or steel fabrication environment.
- Forklift experience is a plus.
