The Medical Assistant supports providers and ensures efficient, high-quality patient care. This role combines clinical and administrative responsibilities, requiring strong organizational skills, patient interaction. The Medical Assistant is adaptable, team-oriented, and committed to delivering an excellent patient experience.
Essential Functions
- Escort patients to exam rooms and perform accurate patient intake, including vital signs and medical histories (HPI, medications, surgical history, allergies)
- Prepare patients for examinations and assist providers during visits and procedures
- Assist with ENT procedures under physician supervision, including ear tube placement, nasal cauterization, biopsies, inner ear injections, and in-office sinus procedures
- Provide patients with discharge instructions, medications, and educational materials, ensuring understanding of care plans
- Respond to patient messages, manage patient portal communications, and assist with appointment scheduling
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of exam rooms, equipment, and clinical work areas
- Follow infection control protocols, including sterilizing instruments and maintaining a safe clinical environment
Education and/or experience
- High school diploma or equivalent required; medical assistant certification preferred
- Previous experience in a medical office or clinical setting preferred
- Familiarity with EMR systems and patient communication tools
- Basic understanding of medical terminology and clinical workflows
Total Rewards
The referenced base salary range represents the low and high end of Chesapeake Specialty Care salary range for this position. Some candidates will not be eligible for the upper end of the salary range. Exact salary will ultimately depend on multiple factors, which may include the successful candidate's geographic location, skills, work experience, market conditions, internal equity, responsibility factor and span of control, education/training and other qualifications.
